Yasawa Athletics Team Makes Its Mark at the Tuckers Ice Cream Games
SPORTS

The South Seas Yasawa Athletics Team is making waves as it takes part in the Tuckers Ice Cream Games in Suva for the first time.
Head coach Lorima Lawai shared that this is a big milestone for the athletes, who typically train on beaches with limited equipment in their home islands.
Despite these challenges, the team is eager to participate in future events and is already focused on preparations for the 2025 games.
Training conditions are tough, but the athletes are learning quickly, enjoying their drills, and benefiting from the guidance of their dedicated coaches and teachers.
While they are used to traveling by boat to and from school, coming to Suva and experiencing the city’s infrastructure, such as buses and bus cards, has been an eye-opening experience for the Yasawa students.
The team’s success isn’t just about athletics; it’s about making the most of their God-given talents, both on the field and in life.
Lawai encourages young athletes to pursue sports alongside their education, as both can play a key role in shaping their futures.
