CNN and Other US Media Outlets Sue Trump Administration Over White House Ban

CNN, Politico and MS NOW have sued the Trump administration after their journalists were barred from the White House following criticism from President Donald Trump over their reporting.

The media organisations argue that the decision violates press freedom and the First Amendment, which protects freedom of the press in the United States.

The outlets said their journalists’ credentials were revoked without notice or due process because the White House objected to their coverage. They are asking a federal court to declare the ban unconstitutional and prevent the administration from enforcing it.

Trump has denied that the administration is attacking the free press, saying he was targeting what he called “FAKE NEWS.”

The dispute has also led major US television networks to suspend their participation in the White House press pool, which allows broadcasters to share coverage of presidential events.

The move could affect media coverage of Trump’s upcoming trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

The legal battle is expected to further test the limits of presidential control over White House media access and the constitutional protections afforded to journalists.
