Kadavu Woman Receives New Birth Certificate After Decades

A 60-year-old woman from Nasau Village, Nabukelevu, Kadavu, has received a new standard birth certificate, giving her a more secure and recognised record of her identity.

Fipe Domona had relied on an old A5-sized copy of her birth certificate for decades.

The updated certificate is expected to make it easier for her to access essential services, including healthcare, banking and government services.

Her experience highlights the importance of bringing civil registration services closer to people living in Fiji’s remote and maritime communities.
