Parvish Kumar Honoured With Samoan Chiefly Title for Healthcare Contribution

Pacific Specialist Healthcare founder and CEO Parvish Kumar has been honoured with a Samoan chiefly title in recognition of his contribution to healthcare and the wellbeing of people in Samoa and the wider Pacific.

Kumar has been bestowed the title Tagaloafaaofonuu and will now be known as Tagaloafaaofonuu Parvish Kumar.

He founded Pacific Specialist Healthcare in Suva in 2016 following a career in academia, including pharmacy and medical education.

Under his leadership, the organisation has grown into a specialist healthcare provider offering medical services through specialist doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Pacific Specialist Healthcare later established its 130-bed flagship hospital at Legalega in Nadi, which has provided specialist treatment to patients from Fiji and other Pacific Island countries, including Samoa and Tonga.

The hospital has helped some Pacific patients access specialist care in Fiji without having to travel further overseas for treatment.

The organisation is also working with stakeholders in Samoa on plans to establish a specialist hospital in Savaiʻi, which would aim to improve access to healthcare services for communities on Samoa’s largest island.

Kumar’s new chiefly title recognises his contribution to strengthening healthcare access and supporting the wellbeing of communities across the Pacific.
