Police Women’s Inter-Formation Tournament Opens in Labasa

The Fiji Police Force Women’s Inter-Formation Sports Tournament has officially opened at Subrails Park in Labasa, with Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere** officiating the opening ceremony this morning.

The annual tournament brings together women officers from policing divisions across Fiji to compete for the top prizes in volleyball and netball.

This year’s tournament is being held under the theme “Working Together to Address Gender-Based Violence Through Community Partnership.”

The event aims to promote teamwork, camaraderie and fellowship among officers while highlighting the importance of community partnerships in addressing gender-based violence.

In his address, Ratu Wiliame acknowledged the importance of the sporting competition but reminded officers that their primary responsibility remains their duty to the people of Fiji.

He urged them to remain vigilant and continue fulfilling their core role of protecting and serving the people of Fiji.

The tournament also provides an opportunity for policewomen to strengthen professional relationships, promote wellbeing and build teamwork through sport.
