Injured Lau Toddler Retrieved in Urgent Navy Operation

A two-year-old boy from Nayau, Lau, who was reportedly kicked and stomped by a horse, has been retrieved in an overnight operation involving the Fiji Navy and Ministry of Health.

Doctors Tui Lasike and Mika Lutumailagi travelled aboard the RFNS Savenaca after rough seas made transport by smaller boats unsafe.

Health Minister Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu praised the coordinated response and urged parents to closely supervise young children, particularly around large animals.

The boy is expected to receive further assessment and treatment at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.
