PM Rabuka Tables Constitution Review Report in Parliament

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has tabled the 2026 Constitution Review Commission Report and Draft Constitution in Parliament, formally making the documents available to the public.

The report was tabled during a special sitting of Parliament this morning.

The report contains the Commission’s recommendations for changes to Fiji’s constitutional framework. However, Government has stressed that tabling the report does not mean it has accepted or adopted all of the recommendations.

Among the recommendations reported from the Commission are a proposed 41-seat Parliament, a 19-seat Senate, restoration of the Bose Levu Vakaturaga, and changes to the appointment of the President.

The Commission has also recommended that FICAC operate primarily as an investigative body, with prosecution of cases handled by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The report and its annexures are expected to be made available through the Parliament website, allowing members of the public to examine the recommendations.

The Government is expected to consider the recommendations further, with debate on the report scheduled during Parliament’s regular sitting later this month. A Constitution Amendment Bill is also expected to proceed through Parliament as part of the next stage of the process.
