Labasa Girl Aliza Finds Her Feet in Suva

Moving from Labasa to Suva and stepping into the working world has given Aliza Zaria Bi an opportunity to learn, grow and begin building the future she wants for herself.

Now working as an Administration Officer at Grace Road, Aliza says the experience has helped her develop new skills, meet new people and gain knowledge she believes will remain valuable throughout her career.

For Aliza, much of that journey has been about learning from the people around her.

She speaks particularly warmly about her sunbaenim, who has helped guide her through the job and taught her many of the things she now uses in her everyday work.

“She taught me a lot of things. I love her a lot,” Aliza said.

sunbaenim means mentor in Korean.

Entering the workforce has not always been easy, but Aliza says every challenge has also been an opportunity to learn.

“People have taught me a lot of things inside the office. I believe this experience will help me a lot in my future,” she said.

“The skills I have gained from working at Grace Road are worth it.”

Just as important to Aliza has been the people she has met along the way.

She thanked her colleagues and management for taking the time to teach and support her as she continues developing professionally.

“I have met great people, and the management are super excited to teach me a lot of things,” she said.

For the young administration officer, the experience has given her more than workplace skills. It has also given her confidence about what lies ahead.

And while her career is only beginning, Aliza already hopes the place where she has learned so much can remain part of her journey.
