Two Children Placed in Relative’s Care Following Alleged Abuse Report in Lautoka

Two children have been removed from a home in Lautoka and placed in the care of a relative following an alleged case of abuse and neglect.

Police and social welfare officers attended a residence along Sukanaivalu Road last night after receiving a report concerning the two children.

Following the intervention, the children were removed from the home and placed under the care of a relative residing in Lautoka.

Police said the children’s mother did not leave the residence with them despite efforts by officials.

The Fiji Police Force has reminded the public that under the Child Care and Protection Act 2024, failing to report suspected child abuse is an offence.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children.
