FRA Warns Damaged and Missing Road Signs Pose Safety Risks

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has raised concerns over damaged, vandalised and missing road signs, warning that the issue could compromise road safety.

The Authority says road signs are critical for motorists, providing information on speed limits, hazards, intersections, pedestrian crossings and changing road conditions.

FRA says when signs are damaged or removed, drivers may miss important warnings and guidance, increasing the risk of accidents.

The Authority also says speeding, reckless driving and vehicle crashes contribute to damage to road signs, guardrails and other road infrastructure.

Repairing and replacing these assets requires additional resources and time that could otherwise be used for planned road maintenance and improvement works.

FRA is urging motorists and members of the public to help protect road infrastructure by reporting damaged or missing road signs.
