More Than 11,000 Suspected Marijuana Plants Uprooted in Nasuva

More than 11,000 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted during a police operation in the Nasuva farming area on October 2.

Officers from Savusavu, the Northern Division Taskforce and the North Police Rugby team were deployed as part of the operation.

Police say the owner of the farm has yet to be identified, while the seized plants will undergo analysis as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a separate drug operation in Sabeto in the Western Division resulted in the arrest of a man in his 40s.

Police allegedly found a zip-lock bag containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, along with smoking apparatus and a digital scale.

The man remains in custody, while the seized substances have been sent for analysis.

Police say drug operations are continuing around the country and have encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities or provide information by calling 1681.
