Three Police Officers Charged with Murder of Lami Constable
Three police officers have been jointly charged with murder in connection with the death of Lami Police Constable Peniasi Racagi earlier this year.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed that Acting Director of Public Prosecutions has sanctioned murder charges against Simione Rokosemudu, Iowane Sukanaisoro and Ilisoni Waqa.
The three officers are accused of murdering Constable Racagi in February 2026 following an alleged altercation.
The charges have been laid under Section 237 of the Crimes Act 2009.
According to the ODPP, the decision to prosecute followed a thorough legal analysis conducted in accordance with its standard procedures.
The three accused officers are expected to appear in court on Friday, October 9.
The allegations remain before the courts, and all three officers are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The latest charges come months after murder proceedings against two other men were discontinued in May due to delays in submitting supporting evidence to prosecutors.
