PM Rabuka Urges Public to Speak Freely on Constitution Bill
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has encouraged members of the public to openly share their views on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026.
Speaking during a public consultation at Kilaka Village Hall in Bua today, 26 October, Rabuka thanked residents for their contributions and encouraged respectful discussion on the proposed constitutional changes.
“We are here to collect your views. We want you to be free with what you have to tell us,” he said.
Rabuka, who chairs the Special Committee on the Bill, assured participants that all submissions would be collected, consolidated and considered before the Bill returns to Parliament for further consideration.
The committee is expected to meet later this week to review the submissions and prepare its report for presentation to Parliament.
Public consultations will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, 27 October, at Somosomo Village Hall in Taveuni from 10am to midday.
Taveuni residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, raise concerns and share their views on the proposed amendments.
