Paperwork Should Never Delay Service to Fijians, Says Nemani
Permanent Secretary for Employment Jone Maritino Nemani says paperwork should never be the reason workers and employers face delays when seeking help from the Ministry.
Speaking at the launch of WorkHub in Nadi, Nemani said the new digital platform would help officers process approvals faster, reduce paperwork and strengthen accountability.
“When an inspector needs approval and transport to visit a workplace, or an officer must respond to a request or complaint, the paperwork should never be the reason for delay.”
WorkHub brings internal approvals, correspondence and official records into one secure system, replacing disconnected processes and allowing management to identify where delays occur.
Nemani said the launch reflected the Ministry’s commitment to respecting the time of every worker, employer and citizen who seeks its services.
Digital transformation is a standalone priority under the Ministry’s Strategic Development Plan 2025–2029, with further improvements planned for the Labour Inspection System.
The platform was developed and tested by Ministry staff, with officers trained across the Western, Northern and Central Divisions. Government’s Information Technology and Computing Services provided the server infrastructure.
Nemani said technology would give public servants better tools to do their jobs, with the Ministry also looking towards automation and artificial intelligence to improve service delivery.
The focus, he said, was to build a Ministry that responds faster and serves the people of Fiji better.
