Vosarogo is Minister for Justice

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo will take on the Justice portfolio, adding to his responsibilities following Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s earlier confirmation that he would also oversee Employment.

Rabuka confirmed the Justice arrangement in Levuka today following Siromi Turaga’s resignation from Cabinet. Vosarogo will retain his Lands responsibilities, with support in Justice from Assistant Minister Josaia Niudamu.

The Prime Minister said the Government would distribute the responsibilities among its existing ministers without increasing Cabinet numbers.

“Mr Vosarogo is doubling up as Minister for Justice, and there is an Assistant Minister, which is Josaia Niudamu,” Rabuka said.

The arrangement will continue through the remaining weeks and months of the Government’s term.

Rabuka had earlier announced that Vosarogo would take over the Employment portfolio following the passing of Minister Agni Deo Singh, pointing to his legal background as a strength for the role.

“He is a lawyer, and I believe he would be able to handle the portfolio,” Rabuka said.
