femLINKpacific Celebrates 26 Years of Feminist Media and Community Empowerment

Feminist media organisation femLINKpacific is celebrating its 26th anniversary, marking more than two decades of work amplifying the voices of women, young people and marginalised communities across Fiji and the Pacific.

Established in 2000, femLINKpacific has grown from a grassroots initiative into a recognised feminist media network focused on inclusive communication, community radio and advocacy.

Over the past 26 years, the organisation has used media and communication as tools to support women’s participation, strengthen communities and promote social change.

Its work has included providing platforms for women and communities whose voices can often be overlooked in mainstream media and supporting greater participation in discussions on issues affecting their lives.

The organisation said the anniversary reflects its continued commitment to ensuring women, youth and marginalised communities have opportunities to speak, be heard and participate in decision-making.

As femLINKpacific marks the milestone, it is reaffirming the importance of feminist media and community-based communication in strengthening inclusive societies across Fiji and the wider Pacific.

The organisation says its 26-year journey demonstrates the continued value of community voices, inclusive media and women’s leadership in creating meaningful social change.
