McDonald’s Nadi Drive-Through System Down Again
McDonald’s Nadi is facing fresh criticism after its drive-through ordering system reportedly remained out of service for a second consecutive day, leaving customers frustrated and raising concerns about the standard of service offered to tourists visiting Fiji.
Security guards at the restaurant informed customers that the system had been down for two days, while motorists were reportedly waiting up to 25 minutes just to reach the ordering booth.
The latest incident adds to growing complaints about the international fast-food chain’s operations in Fiji, with customers reporting broken machines, incorrect orders, long waiting times and inconsistent service.
The situation is particularly concerning in Nadi, Fiji’s main tourism gateway, where thousands of international visitors arrive expecting the same standards of convenience and service associated with the McDonald’s brand worldwide.
A review of travel website Tripadvisor reveals that McDonald’s Nadi has a relatively poor rating of just 3.1.
The restaurant is also ranked last, at 12th out of 12, in Tripadvisor’s Quick Bites category for Nadi.
Several reviews raise concerns about slow service, incorrect orders and food quality.
In one review published in June 2025, a customer complained that a simple drive-through coffee order had been entered incorrectly despite spending several minutes explaining it.
Another reviewer described waiting 15 minutes for orange juice while a freshly prepared coffee was left to go cold.
Similar complaints have emerged at other McDonald’s outlets in Fiji.
A Tripadvisor review of the Suva outlet published in May 2026 reported a drive-through wait of more than 30 minutes just to place an order, while another customer complained about repeated problems with missing orders.
While individual reviews do not necessarily reflect every customer’s experience, the recurring complaints raise questions about whether sufficient attention is being given to equipment maintenance, staff training and service standards.
For a global brand built around speed, convenience and consistency, repeated delays and equipment failures are hardly a good advertisement.
They also risk creating a poor impression among tourists, particularly those who may be visiting Fiji for the first time.
